Se pare ca unii posesori de iPhone din SUA au primit mesaje SMS si e-mailuri de la AT&T care ii atentiona ca fac internet tethering desi nu au activata optiunea respectiva in planul tarifar, operatorul propunandu-le cateva optiuni care includ tethering. Deocamdata AT&T s-a rezumat doar la a trimite un avertisment celor care faceau acest lucru insa este posibil ca in viitor operatorul sa blocheze accesul la internet a utilizatorilor sau sa tarifeze separat traficul facut prin tethering.
Daca AT&T poate verifica traficul si isi poate da seama care a fost facut prin tethering si care de pe dispozitiv in sine atunci e foarte probabil ca orice operator sa poata face acest lucru. Deocamdata nimeni nu stie cum anume diferentiata AT&T traficul de date, insa se presupune ca ar putea face acest lucru doar pe iOS 4.3 doeocamdata asa ca aveti grija sa nu cumva sa li se nasca, celor de la Orange vreo idee similara.

To take advantage of this feature, we require that in addition to a data plan, you also have a tethering plan.

• Mobile Hotspot capabilities are included for compatible SmartphonesIf we don’t hear from you, we’ll plan to automatically enroll you into DataPro 4GB afterMarch 27, 2011. The new plan – whether you sign up on your own or we automatically enroll you – will replace your current smartphone data plan, including if you are on an unlimited data plan.
If you discontinue tethering, no changes to your current plan will be required.
It’s easy to track your usage throughout the month so there are no bill surprises. For example, we send you free text messages when you reach 65, 90, and 100 percent of your plan’s threshold.
