In 2010 Apple a prezentat lumii intregi sistemul FaceTime care permite utilizatorilor sa faca apeluri video intre terminale iPhone 4 folosind retele Wi-Fi. Cateva luni mai tarziu compatibilitatea s-a extins la iPod Touch 4G, iPad 2 si Mac-uri iar incepand din octombrie 2011 si la iPhone 4S. Din pacate Apple refuza sa scoata limitarea care nu ne permite sa folosim sistemul si pe retele 3G insa aici s-ar putea sa fie vina operatorilor de telefonie mobila care nu ar avea o infrastructura indeajuns de bine pusa la punct pentru a sustine traficul de date. Chiar si asa, aplicatii precum My3G sau 3G Unrestrictor ne permit sa facem apeluri FaceTime prin 3G insa ele sunt disponibile doar daca facem jailbreak.
Pentru cei care nu vor sa faca jailbreak exista o multitudine de aplicatii care ne permit sa facem apeluri video prin 3G. Din pacate unele sau toate s-ar putea sa nu functioneze pe reteaua de telefonie Vodafone Romania care blocheaza porturile VoIP pentru clientii care nu platesc o anumita optiune sau nu au un anumit tip de abonament. Acestea fiind spuse iata 10 dintre cele mai bune aplicatii care iti permit sa faci apeluri video prin 3G. Unele aplicatii au corespondent si pentru iPad chiar sub aceeasi denumire.
