Anul trecut Amazon a lansat tableta Kindle Fire care in teorie nu concureaza cu tableta iPad, nu a afectat cota de piata a iPad, insa a generat foarte multe vanzari pentru cei de la Amazon. Vazand ca au succes cu o asemenea tableta, cei de la Amazon sunt acum interesati sa dezvolte un smartphone care sa concureze cu… iPhone-ul si terminalele Android. Cei de la Amazon dezvolta acest nou smartphone si in paralel aduna un portofoliu de brevete de inventie in baza carora va produce dispozitivul, totul in ideea de a evita eventuale procese bazate pe brevete de inventie. Partea interesanta este ca Amazon colaboreaza cu Foxconn pentru asamblare acestui dispozitiv, Foxconn fiind un partener traditional al celor de la Apple.
Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN) is developing a smartphone that would vie with Apple Inc. (AAPL)’s iPhone and handheld devices that run Google Inc. (GOOG)’s Android operating system, two people with knowledge of the matter said. Foxconn International Holdings Ltd. (2038), the Chinese mobile- phone maker, is working with Amazon on the device, said one of the people, who asked not to be identified because the plans are private. Amazon is seeking to complement the smartphone strategy by acquiring patents that cover wireless technology and would help it defend against allegations of infringement, other people with knowledge of the matter said.
Revenind la smartphone, avand in vedere ca tableta Kindle Fire a fost vanduta la pret foarte mic, exista posibilitatea ca Amazon sa “sparga piata” smartphone-urilor cu un dispozitiv extrem de ieftin, dar cu hardware decent. Nu cred ca Amazon poate afecta in vreun fel vanzarile iPhone-ului, insa exista sanse destul de mari ca acest dispozitiv sa fure o parte din cota de piata a producatorilor de terminale Android.
