Intr-un interviu dat recent celor de la Wired, CEO-ul Google, Larry Page, a vorbit despre Apple si desigur despre compania pe care o produce. Page spune ca Apple este extrem de buna in doar cateva domenii in care este implicata, insa el considera acest lucru nesatisfacator, el spunand ca in lume exista atat de multe oportunitati si companii precum Google trebuie sa profite de ele pentru a dezvolta produse grozave utilizate de milioane de oameni din lumea intreaga.
You know, we always have these debates: We have all this money, we have all these people, why aren’t we doing more stuff? You may say that Apple only does a very, very small number of things, and that’s working pretty well for them. But I find that unsatisfying. I feel like there are all these opportunities in the world to use technology to make people’s lives better. At Google we’re attacking maybe 0.1 percent of that space.
Vorbind despre iOS 6 Maps, Page sustine ca esecul acestui serviciu a determinat lumea sa aprecieze din ce in ce mai mult Google Maps si efortul depus de catre Google pentru dezvoltarea acestui serviciu. Page nu a oferit detalii in legatura cu problemele pe care le-au avut cele doua companii, insa este clar ca Google a avut foarte multe de castigat de pe urma acestei rupturi, insa beneficiile sunt probabil pe termen scurt, deoarece imbunatatirea iOS 6 Maps va determina utilizatorii sa renunte treptat la Google Maps.
I don’t want to comment on partner relationships. But we’ve been working on Maps for a long time, and it’s nice to see people realize that we’ve put a lot of effort and investment into it. That’s clearly more appreciated now.
