BARCELONA, Spain — Nokia will get billions of dollars from Microsoft to ditch its current smartphone software in favor of Windows Phone 7, Nokia CEO Stephen Elop said Sunday, defending the deal. On Sunday, a day ahead of the start of the Mobile World Congress cellphone trade show in Barcelona, Elop told the media, analysts and industry players that apart from the benefits of the alliance laid out Friday, Microsoft is paying Nokia billions of dollars to switch to Windows Phone 7. “This is something I don’t think was completely explained,” said Elop, who until September was president of Microsoft’s Business division.
Aparent Nokia a avut oferte si de la Google care a incercat sa ii convinga sa foloseasca Android in smartphone-urile proprii, insa era imposibil ca un fost presedinte al diviziei Business al Microsoft sa aleaga Google in locul fostei sale companii. Nokia a pierdut 14 procente la bursa, a pierdut cateva puncte si la capitolul imagine insa va castiga miliarde de dolari in urmatorii ani, bani de care are disperata nevoie avand in vedere ca profiturile semestriale au scazut an dupa an.
