Iata o veste pe care nu ma asteptam sa o vad prea curand: Intel a reusit sa optimizeze Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwitch pentru a rula pe un nou model de procesoare Atom dedicate terminalelor mobile. Medfield se numesc noile procesoare ale celor de la Intel si compania incearca sa convinga producatorii de smartphone-uri si tablete sa renunte la Qualcomm si ARM in favoarea lor. Procesoarele Atom Medfield ruleaza fara probleme Ice Cream Sandwitch si cei de la Intel lucreaza cu Samsung pentru dezvoltarea unui smartphone cu acest gen de procesor pentru operatorul de telefonie mobila Sprint din SUA.
Samsung is the manufacturer of the Intel flavored phone which will be available for Sprint. The phone, which is allegedly going to run Android 4.0, will first be seen during next year’s CES. And there is some substance behind the rumors. PC World’s Agam Shah reports that Intel has been able to get Ice Cream Sandwich on its Atom processor, co-named Medfield. Shah adds that Intel has been working on optimizing the processor for certain devices, and should be ready in time for when these devices are being released. As for talk that Intel’s x86 processors can’t compete in the smartphone arena, Intel CEO Paul Otellini says that the Medfield processor will beat all challengers.
Intr-o piata in care ARM si Qualcomm controleaza aproape tot, Intel s-ar putea dovedi a fi un competitor foarte puternic mai ales ca are in spate atat de multa experienta. Presupun ca tot ceea ce pregateste Intel este mai bun decat ceea ce vedem pe piata de la alti producatori si 2012 se anunta a fi un an extrem de interesant. Apple lucreaza cu Intel pentru producerea MacBook-urilor insa nu cred ca va fi dispusa sa renunte la ARM in favoarea Intel decat daca totul va merita atat din punct de vedere financiar cat si din punct de vedere al performantelor.
