Asa cum era de asteptat, compania Apple a cerut o reducere a numarului de terminale iPhone 4S pe care pertenerii sai le produc inaintea lansarii terminalului iPhone 5. Informatiile vin de la un analist care le-a obtinut de la partenerii Apple din Asia si sincer sa fiu cred ca ele sunt destul de corecte. Apple a redus cu aproximativ 20 – 25% numarul de terminale iPhone comandate deja si scaderea ar putea avea legatura inclusiv cu cele 9 milioane de terminale pe care compania le are deja disponibile in lantul sau de distributie, deci are indeajuns de multe dispozitive pentru a acoperi sezonul de vara.
Analyst Shaw Wu with Sterne Agee said in a note to investors on Tuesday that he has found in his checks with suppliers that Apple has reduced iPhone orders by between 20 and 25 percent from the 35.1 million units the company shipped in the March quarter. If those numbers hold for the current June quarter, that would result in shipments of between 26 million and 28 million iPhones. That result would be below Wall Street consensus of between 30 million and 31 million. Wu also noted that investors should factor in the 8.6 million iPhones Apple has in the channel inventory, with 2.6 million added in the most recent quarter.
Prin luna august partenerii Apple ar trebui sa inceapa sa asambleze cea de-a sasea generatie a terminalului iPhone, deci actualele smartphone-uri vor fi produse in cantitati tot mai mici, urmand ca din septembrie intreaga productie sa fie concentrata pe iPhone 5.
