Official LAST MINUTE Agreement Confirmed by Simona Bucura-Oprescu with a First for Romania

Simona Bucura-Oprescu, Minister of Labor, announces the measures that the Romanian Government will take following extremely important discussions within the Tripartite National Council for Social Dialogue, in which the Government, unions and employers participated, the first collective labor contract was extended to the entire banking sector in Romania.

Simona Bucura-Oprescu officially confirms the fact that this decision marks a first in the field of social dialogue, being the first collective agreement that applies erga omnes, i.e. to all employees in the sector, regardless of their union affiliation or employer.

Simona Bucura-Oprescu emphasized the importance of this step, mentioning that the extension of the collective agreement represents an essential step in the consolidation of social dialogue in Romania. "Social dialogue and collective negotiations are fundamental pillars of a fair and efficient labor market.

This collective contract at sector level in the banking field is a first that demonstrates the maturity of the social partners and our commitment to protect the rights of employees in all sectors", declared the minister.

Simona Bucura-Oprescu reveals that the collective agreement will ensure better working conditions and stronger protection for approximately 45.000 employees in the banking sector, offering them increased security in their relationship with employers.

Through it, rights and unified working conditions are guaranteed, which contributes to the creation of a more stable and fair working environment for all employees. In this way, employees will benefit from a unitary framework that will include clear regulations regarding salaries, working time, vacations, as well as other social and professional benefits. This unification of working conditions is essential for ensuring a fair competitiveness between banks and for respecting the rights of employees at the national level.

Simona Bucura-Oprescu announced that the Ministry of Labor will continue to support the dialogue between the social partners and promote the conclusion of collective labor contracts at unit, group of units and sector level, to ensure a fair and stable work environment.

This initiative represents a model of collaboration between all parties involved, which can be followed by other sectors of the Romanian economy. The extension of the collective agreement in the banking sector could serve as an inspiration for other fields as well, such as industrial, IT or services, in order to improve working conditions and increase social protection for employees.

Simona Bucura-Oprescu emphasized that the conclusion and extension of collective labor contracts is a priority objective for the Ministry of Labor. "It is essential to encourage the social partners to negotiate such contracts in order to protect the rights of employees and to ensure economic stability.

A collective agreement at sector level contributes to the elimination of disparities between employees and to the creation of a fairer work environment for all. We will continue to offer assistance and support to all parties involved in the collective bargaining process", added the minister.

The consolidation of social dialogue and collective negotiations are essential aspects for the development of a sustainable economy, and this first collective contract at sector level demonstrates that Romania is on the road the best in terms of ensuring decent working conditions and respecting the rights of employees.
