Nicosor Dan, the mayor of Bucharest, brought to the public's attention the recent concerns of European leaders and citizens regarding the potential changes that could occur in the event of Donald Trump's re-election. "I notice a great concern among European leaders and citizens regarding the changes that will come in the Trump 2 mandate. It is a natural reflex of self-defense in the face of unpredictable transformations," Dan declared during a press conference.
Nicosor Dan stressed the importance for Romania to focus on restoring credibility, both internally, in front of its own citizens, and externally, in order to eliminate any skepticism in the eyes of Western partners. “In foreign policy, it is essential to remain with the core of Western states.
"The United States and NATO are fundamental guarantees of our security, without which we cannot conceive of a secure future. At the same time, the European Union represents the political and economic framework that offers us real opportunities for development and raising our standard of living."
Nicusor Dan stressed the need for Romania not to prioritize between these three pillars of foreign policy. “Romania cannot prioritize between these three pillars of foreign policy. We must align our entire foreign policy to maintain cohesion within the transatlantic policy.”
In the face of difficult times that may arise, Nicusor Dan stated that Romania does not have to choose between the United States and the European Union. “Our voice in the EU must be one of unity, and both the EU and the US must continue to collaborate, relying on the fundamental values that unite them. Romania can have both directions, advancing with more courage on the international stage.”
Nicusor Dan concluded: “Every challenge, every decision, must pave the way to a new era of reforms, even when changes seem rapid and difficult to anticipate.”
In other positive news for Romania, Colentina Clinical Hospital has performed an innovative tendon transplant, giving a patient the chance to use her right arm again. “The tendon, taken from a brain-dead donor, is the first used in Romania from the hospital’s tissue bank for such an intervention,” said a hospital representative.
This success marks an important step in the advancement of medical technologies in the country. “Congratulations to all the medical professionals involved in such an exceptional professional performance. Such operations will be more accessible in the future when the new Tissue Bank is ready.”
The construction of the new tissue bank is in full swing, with the building erected and work underway on installations and finishing touches. “This Tissue Bank will be able to store tissues that are taken for operations from all over the country: tendons, skin, bones, corneas, etc., which means more transplant interventions and saving more lives.”
