BREAKING NEWS Education Projects Announced by the Minister of Education School Students Romania

The Minister of Education, Daniel David, announced today the preparation of the adoption of a very important new order that officially establishes a series of lists of extracurricular education projects for the 2024-2025 school year, being published for now only as part of the decision-making transparency process.

Minister of Education states that the order, entitled "ORDER on the approval of the Lists of international, national, regional and inter-county extracurricular education projects organized in the 2024-2025 school year", aims to diversify and improve the educational offers available to students in pre-university education.

According to the order drafted by the Ministry of Education, three main categories of extracurricular projects will be approved. The first category includes national and international projects that benefit from direct funding from the Ministry, listed in Annex 1 of the order. These projects are intended to facilitate students' access to high-quality educational activities, both nationally and internationally.

The Minister of Education has established that the second category includes national and international projects that take place in Romania, but which do not receive funding from the Ministry, and are detailed in Annex 2. These initiatives allow local organizers to develop educational programs adapted to the needs of the respective communities.

The third category refers to regional and inter-county projects, without financial support from the Ministry, and are included in Annex 3. These projects aim to strengthen collaboration between various counties and promote a varied extracurricular education, adapted to the regional specifics.

The Minister of Education has emphasized the importance of accessibility in extracurricular education, by stipulating in Article 2 of the order, which prohibits the charging of participation fees or the solicitation of other contributions from parents and students. Also, for the national and international stages of funded and unfunded projects, competitions are reserved exclusively for secondary school students, thus ensuring a high level of performance.

Daniel David also stated that the implementation of this order will be coordinated by the General Directorate for Equity and Performance in Pre-university Education, the county school inspectorates and the School Inspectorate of Bucharest Municipality, in collaboration with educational units and children's clubs. This initiative responds to the need to diversify educational methods and stimulate students' creativity and performance outside the traditional school program.

The Ministry of Education thus aims to create a more inclusive educational environment and better adapted to contemporary challenges, offering students various opportunities for personal and academic development. For more details about the approved projects, interested parties can consult the annexes to the order published on the official website of the Ministry of Education and Research.
