Bogdan Ivan, Minister of Economy, has officially confirmed an important action he recently took, and this is because he had the opportunity to be present at the most recent Artificial Intelligence Summit in Paris, where he spoke in front of 44 ministers from the Global Partnership for Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) about the extraordinary potential that Romania has. In the same context, President Emmanuel Macron stressed the importance of AI in protecting democracy and supporting economic development.
Bogdan Ivan stated "We leave no one behind!", emphasizing that the impact of artificial intelligence technologies - from personalized medical solutions and autonomous cars, to the automation of repetitive tasks - must be assessed and aligned with respect for fundamental rights.
At the same time, Bogdan Ivan announced that Romania's accession to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) remains the priority national objective on the global stage, mentioning that important new steps have been taken in this direction.
In parallel with the international commitments regarding the promotion and regulation of AI, the Minister of Economy came out in front of the ministry headquarters to discuss with representatives of the Free Navalist Union from Damen Shipyards Mangalia SA, addressing the issues related to the situation of the Mangalia Shipyard. Bogdan Ivan stated that it is not the employees' fault for the current difficulties, emphasizing that these problems are systemic in nature and have persisted for several years.
"We have had extensive and open consultations with all those involved and affected over the last three weeks. We are in advanced discussions with serious investors interested in the recovery and modernization of the site," the Economy Minister said. He added that, following the negotiations, a legal solution was identified aimed at ending the conflict, facilitating potential new partnerships and major investments.
The discussions brought together union representatives, those of Santierul Naval 2 Mai and Damen Shipyards Mangalia, at the same table, with the aim of finding a concrete strategy for revitalizing the activity in Mangalia. Minister Bogdan Ivan confirmed that he will continue the dialogue with both union members, company representatives and potential investors.
"For Mangalia, for every employee and for every family that expects a better future, we will transform the current situation into an opportunity for long-term development and consolidation," Bogdan Ivan emphasized. Through the announced plans, the Government aims to ensure continuity in the construction site's activity and provide a stable framework for investments, with long-term benefits for the local and national economy.
